Characterisation of anti-Occludin recombinant antibodies

Occludin is a transmembrane protein found in tight junctions. The internal histology lab at INRAE St Gilles has identified one recombinant antibody that recognises porcine occludin.

The internal histology laboratory at St Gilles tested four anti-occludin recombinant antibodies on cells and tissues from mice, pigs and cows.
- One antibody (Abcam Ab216327) was validated in pig (cells + intestinal sections), but the results were mixed in cow tissues.
- Two antibodies (AbAb 1-3 and AbAb 37-5) gave encouraging results on pig and cow tissue sections, but the conditions need to be optimised;
- One antibody (CST 91131) did not give a signal under the conditions tested.
The pilot study enabled the internal histology lab at St Gilles to identify, for the first time, an anti-occludin antibody that recognises the pig protein!
